Retro hot sandwich with cubed Spam, hard-boiled eggs, American cheese, pickles, olives, and mayo stuffed in buns and baked in foil: melted, steamy, and unexpectedly satisfying.

45 minChop up cubed Spam, hard-cooked eggs, American cheese, green peppers, onions, green olives, and sweet pickles, bind it all with mayonnaise, and stuff the mixture into hamburger buns.
Wrap each sandwich tight in foil and bake at 325 degrees for thirty minutes.
The heat melts the cheese, melds all those flavors together, and steams the buns until they’re soft and warm.
It’s pure retro comfort food that tastes way better than the ingredient list suggests.
Serves four to six.
Kitchen Tips
- Cube all ingredients to similar size for even distribution and better texture in every bite
- Wrap sandwiches tightly in foil to trap steam and keep buns moist during baking
- Serve hot straight from the oven when cheese is fully melted and flavors have married
