110 minRemember that classic chip dip made with sour cream and onion soup mix? Now imagine it baked right into a warm loaf of bread. That’s exactly what this is.
Cottage cheese and sour cream make the crumb incredibly soft and tangy. A packet of onion soup mix gives it that unmistakable savory, oniony flavor that fills the kitchen while it bakes.
Toss everything into your bread machine and let it do the work, or use the dough cycle and bake two smaller loaves in the oven. Either way, you end up with a bread that’s rich, flavorful, and completely addictive sliced warm with butter.
This one is a crowd-pleaser at dinner parties. Slice it thick and serve alongside soup, stew, or just a good cheese board.
Pro Tips
- Start with half a packet of onion soup mix if you’re not sure about the intensity. You can always use the full packet next time.
- Make sure all wet ingredients are slightly warmed before adding to the bread machine. Cold ingredients slow down the yeast.
- If baking in the oven, let the dough rise until doubled before baking for the lightest texture.
