Crushed pineapple and grated carrots go right into the pan with rolled oats, whole wheat flour, and bread flour. Applesauce and a touch of brown sugar handle the sweetness while vanilla rounds out the flavor.
No oil, no butter, no eggs. This loaf gets its moisture entirely from the fruit and vegetables. The oats give it a hearty chew, and the whole wheat adds a nutty depth that plain white bread just can’t match.
Load the ingredients, press start, and come back to a warm loaf that smells like a tropical bakery.
Kitchen Tips
- Add ingredients in the order listed. Most bread machines want liquids first, then dry ingredients, with yeast on top.
- Use the whole wheat cycle if your machine has one. The longer knead time helps develop gluten with the heavier flours.
- Drain the crushed pineapple lightly but don’t squeeze it bone dry. You need some of that juice for moisture.
- This bread toasts beautifully. Try it with a thin spread of cream cheese for breakfast.

This recipe, like many others, does not tell what settings to use. I would have liked to use it, but will not.
