20 minFresh strawberries get pureed with a touch of sugar then blended with vanilla ice cream and cold milk for a thick, fruity shake.
Save a few pretty berries for garnish, slice them thin, and perch them on the rim of each glass.
A quick chill in the fridge ensures every sip is ice cold.
Kitchen Tips
- Soften ice cream slightly: Let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes for easier blending
- Puree strawberries first: This creates a smooth base without strawberry chunks
- Use a sieve if needed: Press berries through for the smoothest texture without seeds
- Blend quickly: Over-blending can make the shake thin and melty
- Garnish before chilling: Slice strawberries and add to glasses before the final chill
Variations
- Mix in a tablespoon of chocolate syrup for strawberry-chocolate swirl
- Add a handful of raspberries along with the strawberries
- Use strawberry ice cream for an extra-intense berry flavor

Directions
Take the ice cream out of the freezer a few minutes before you make this to give it a chance to soften slightly.
Save two or three of the prettier strawberries for decoration.
Purée the rest with sugar either in a liquidiser or by pushing the strawberries through a sieve.
Add the ice cream and cold milk together and either process quickly in the liquidiser or whisk until smooth.
Pour into glasses and decorate each with a slice of strawberry.
Chill in the fridge for ten minutes.
