30 minTurkey burgers get a bad rap for being dry. Wrapping them in bacon fixes that problem entirely.
Ground turkey gets mixed with fine bread crumbs, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic salt, then shaped into thick patties and wrapped in two crisscrossed bacon slices that hold everything together under the broiler.
The bacon renders and crisps while basting the turkey with smoky fat, so you end up with a burger that’s leaner than beef but doesn’t taste like a compromise.
Broil them about four minutes per side and they’re done. Fast, simple, and a crowd-pleaser on buns with all the fixings.
Kitchen Tips
- Cook the bacon just until limp before wrapping. Raw bacon won’t have time to fully crisp under the broiler, and overly crisp bacon will crack when you bend it.
- Tuck the bacon ends underneath the patty and pin them with a toothpick so they stay put when you flip.
- Don’t press the patties while they cook. Let the bacon do its job and keep the juices inside.
- These also work on the grill over medium-high heat. The bacon drippings will cause flare-ups, so keep a close eye.

Directions
Set oven control to broil and/or 550 degrees. Cook bacon until limp; cool. Mix turkey, bread crumbs, worcestershire sauce and garlic salt. Salt and pepper to taste.
Shape into 6½ inch inch thick patties. Crisscross 2 slices bacon on each patty, tucking ends under; secure with wooden picks. Broil with tops about 4” from heat until turkey springs back when touched and is no longer pink, about 4 minutes on each side.
