I created this super comfort food soup after discovering celery root (celeriac) thanks to my European husband. I combine typical American green celery stalks and leaves with celeriac, which extra enhances the soup's flavor and makes it even creamier with just milk. No real cream needed. I top mine with croutons and extra celery leaves. Can easily be made vegetarian.
Instead of using any old turkey stuffing, try this scrumptious variation that will become your family's new favorite for Thanksgiving!
Learn how to make Bibimbap, one of my favorite Korean dishes. This time instead of preparing each vegetable separately, I cooked the similar texture vegetables together, which saved time and still tasted delicious. I mixed the seasoned vegetables with soba noodles and of course always have some kimchee as a side, that's a must in Korean food.
Quick weeknight chili with ground round, kidney beans, chipotle in adobo, black olives, and a splash of oregano vinegar. Hearty 60-minute one-pot dinner.
Hearty Moroccan-spiced lentil chili with orange, cinnamon, cardamom and fresh vegetables. Pressure cooker ready in minutes, served over couscous for a warming vegetarian weeknight meal.
Used roma tomatos, basil and parsley from the garden, which made the soup super refreshing and tasty. Just make sure that when you puree the soup in your blender, use a towel to cover the lid tightly; or just use a hand mixer directly.
for those who like delicate aroma and flavor of fresh lovage..
Lean pork tenderloin stir-fried with mushrooms, zucchini, bell pepper, and carrots in a glossy soy-chicken broth sauce. A low-fat weeknight dinner ready in 30 minutes flat.
A hearty vegetarian broccoli rice casserole with brown rice, two cream soups, melty American cheese, and tender broccoli florets. The Sunday dinner casserole made meat-free without the fuss.
Crab, bacon and cheese melts. A match made in heaven.
Wow, the pot roast came out so flavourful and the gravy was also very tasty. We thinly sliced the leftover, used in sandwiches and wraps. Bravo!
So to start off with the first post, I decided to make a meal that screams of comfort food. Whilst it does take a bit of a while to get the meal done, once you take that first bite, heaven couldn’t seem closer if you were Adam trying to touch God’s finger in the “Creation of Adam” fresco created by Michaelangelo. The meal I speak of is Cottage Pie. There is much debate as to what exactly a cottage pie is and how it is different to a Shepherd’s pie...I don’t know. The dominant theory is that Sheperds pie uses lamb mince, whilst a cottage pie uses beef mince. I don’t know about you, but the term “Sheperds Pie” does not get my tastebuds going quite as well, so I prefer the term cottage pie. Besides, comparing the price of ground (mince) beef to ground lamb, a student would pick up the beef mince in a heartbeat without even so much as glancing at the lamb in the meat section. This cottage pie that I made is full of flavour, and just makes you want to cuddle up next to a fire and watch TCM movies all day either by yourself, or with a significant other. Here is the recipe:
The addition of ingredients like curry powder and grated Parmesan make this salad special. Great for sandwiches, on crackers as an appetizer or served on lettuce leaves.
Use solid white tuna, not chunked tuna. To keep the tuna moist this recipe uses a quick marinade to allow the tuna to absorb the flavors.
Peppery arugula, sweet-sour apples, chunks of cheddar cheese and maple candies pecans together make this salad taste absolutely refreshing and tasty. Layers of flavors and textures explode in your mouth.
While Loomis says that this salad does not keep well and shouldn't be counted on for leftovers, she says that it's one of the most popular potato salads she's ever made.
