Classic apple crisp with an oat and corn flake topping that bakes up crunchy. Brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg season both the apples and the crumble. Pour apple juice over everything before baking.

60 minThis crisp layers everything twice: half the sliced apples go in the pan, then half the crumbly topping, then the rest of the apples, and finally the remaining topping. This creates pockets of crisp throughout instead of just on top.
The topping mixes rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and crushed corn flakes for texture that stays crunchy even as the apples steam beneath.
Apple juice poured over the whole thing before baking keeps the fruit from drying out and creates a light sauce in the bottom of the pan.
Baking Tips
- Use 5 large apples, peeled and sliced
- Blend topping ingredients until crumbly with small pea-sized butter pieces
- Pour ¼ cup apple juice over the top layer before baking
- Bake at 375°F for 35 minutes until top is golden
