Textured vegetable protein soaks up a thick, spiced tomato sauce that rivals any meat-based sloppy joe.

Oregano and Worcestershire sauce add savory depth while cayenne brings just enough heat to keep things interesting.

Pile the saucy mixture on toasted kaiser rolls with shredded lettuce for crunch.

Pro Tips

  • Rehydrate TVP granules according to package directions before cooking for the best texture
  • Add a tablespoon of honey to balance the acidity of the tomato paste
  • Toast kaiser rolls under the broiler for extra sturdiness that won’t get soggy
  • Make a double batch and freeze leftovers for quick weeknight dinners
