15 minEvery potluck needs a hero, and this layered taco dip has been stealing the show since the ‘90s for good reason.
A thick, creamy base of cream cheese, sour cream, taco seasoning, and a splash of taco sauce gets spread across a serving platter, then layered with shredded cheddar, crisp lettuce, and diced fresh tomatoes.
No oven. No stovetop. No stress.
Just mix, spread, layer, chill, and set it out with a big bag of tortilla chips. Watch it vanish in minutes.
Kitchen Tips
- Soften the cream cheese first. Room temperature cream cheese blends smoothly with the sour cream. Cold cream cheese will leave lumps no matter how hard you stir.
- Add the lettuce and tomato right before serving. Layering them too early lets moisture seep into the creamy base and makes things watery.
- Go thick on the base layer. A generous spread of that seasoned cream cheese mixture is the foundation. Skimp on it and you’re just eating toppings off a plate.
