1 hrsOne quiche recipe, endless possibilities.
This deep-dish beauty starts with a classic custard of milk, eggs, and two kinds of cheese (Swiss for nuttiness, cheddar for sharp bite), then lets you build your own adventure with the fillings. The base version packs in sautéed onions, broccoli, cauliflower, and mushrooms, but you can easily fold in flaked tuna, diced ham, crumbled bacon, or cooked sausage for extra heft.
Serve it warm or at room temperature, which makes it clutch for buffets, potlucks, or Sunday brunch when you want something impressive without the stress.
Pro Tips
- Scald the milk before adding cheese to prevent grainy texture
- Use a deep 2-inch pie shell to hold all the fillings without overflow
- Let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing for clean edges
- Leftover quiche reheats beautifully in a 300°F oven
Ingredients
Directions
Preheat oven to 350℉ (180℃). Prepare 9 inch pie shell, at least 2-inch deep.
Scald milk. On medium heat, add cheese, stirring until melted. Remove from heat and beat in 1 egg at a time. Add salt and pepper.
Put vegetables and meats (optional) in shell; pour egg mixture into shell. Bake until golden brown and firm, approximately 45 to 55 minutes.
Cool and serve near room temperature.
